Snow melts to filthy –

Carrot, patio marooned ~

And yet, we made him.

Sound of chimney wind –

Gives February gusts a voice ~

Old memories.

Little gusts outside –
Dislodged snow, slowing shifting ~
Her shallow breathing.

Surprising breeze sounds –
Dislodged snow slowing shifting ~
Her breaths are shallow.

She shifts on her side –
Rhythmic breaths, at rest for now ~
Before my snoring.

Winter evening –
Miss the structured walk of ants ~
The bumble of bees.

Forgotten ant trap –
On the frosty windowsill ~
Waiting for Summer.

Nearby river sound –
Night in a warm log cabin ~
New Year’s cold moonlight.

Soothing river sound –
Marking New Year in the woods –
Bathing in moonlight.

Soothing river sound –
Ensconced in a warm cabin ~
But I need to pee.

Poor Poinsettia –
Unsold, given away free ~
We’ll house your last days.

The rain is falling –
On the year’s very last leaves ~
How sweet is the sound.

Two small frogs, sleeping –
Kicking off the coversheets~
Yet, how cold it is!

New Year’s Day, all day –
I am ‘minded, once again ~
A bright Summer noon.
